Summer Reading Program

Summer is here--you know what that means--SUMMER READING PROGRAM FUN!

Children are encouraged to read 20 minutes per day for a total of 1500 minutes over the summer. Research shows that if a child begins reading 20 per day in Kindergarten, by the end of 6th grade, he/she will have read for the equivalent of 60 school days. Conversely if a child only reads 5 minutes per day from Kindergarten through 6th grade, he/she will have only read the equivalent of 3 school days.  What better way to reinforce all the teachers' efforts throughout the school year than to conquer the summer slide!  Children earn digital badges at 250 minute intervals and prizes for the big milestones--Let's read!

Children will receive take-home activity packs each week and library staff will broadcast B-I-N-G-O, Rocket Boosters Storytime and Rocket Club over Facebook, Zoom or YouTube. Watch for us!
