Summer Reading Program

The Summer Reading Program is a great way to encourage reading with children. Each year a state-wide theme is developed to reach young people preschool age through young adult. Readers who complete the program receive rewards at the library and recognition through their respective county school's program. The 2017 'BUILD A BETTER WORLD' program was a huge success thanks to cooperation with the Knee-Hi 4-H club, Master Gardeners, MU Extension office, Retired Teachers Organization, Terry Implement, Gallatin Truck and Tractor, Missouri Conservation Department, City of Gallatin equipment and crew!  Many thanks, one and all!

This year's program boasts 228 combined readers from toddler to teen-representing all five public county schools, four out-of-county schools, two Mennonite schools, one private school and 35 home-schooled children-for a total of 2,276 books AND 169,784 pages read between May 16th and August 12th, 2017!  Way to go Daviess County Summer Readers!

Summer Reading Program 2018 will begin in May 2018.  Look for more details spring 2018.
