Daviess County Library Board Meeting
May 16, 2019 at 4 p.m.
The board met in the basement at the main library.
Present: Daren Adkins, Mary Jarboe, Kelvina Hobbs, Shonna Morrison, and director Elizabeth Plotner. Absent: Mary Jarboe.
Daren called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.
The board reviewed the minutes. Shonna moved that the minutes be approved as presented, and Gregg seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The board examined the bills and financial statements. Gregg moved to pay the bills, and Shonna seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Elizabeth presented her director’s report, which is attached. The first quarterly staff meeting took place in March with all staff in attendance. Mike Emerson has come aboard as the handyman.
The garage door has broken and will need to be replaced. Elizabeth will investigate costs and contact the board. The landscaping will be done by Legendary Lawns. They will spray the unwanted growth and come back after a few days to continue the work. The work should be done by Father’s Day. Elizabeth also told the board about the backsplash project for the basement. Work will begin on this on Monday morning. The board also discussed the HVAC project. Kevin Goad of Goad Heating and Air inspected the installation and will send a report on it. The board will review the report and ask Foster’s to address any problems.
Elizabeth reported on the status of Friends of the Library. Oklahoma Correctional Industries scanned a large number of yearbooks to PDF files and sent them to the library on CD-ROM.
The board examined the library policy (Section A9). Elizabeth asked the board for some input on genealogical research requests done by the library.
Shonna moved that the meeting be adjourned and Kelvina seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The next regular meeting will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Gallatin library.
