The Daviess County Library accepts book, audiobook, and DVD donations. Gift and donation materials will be added to the collection if they meet the same standards required of purchased materials. Items that do not meet these standards may be used for our deposit collections or book sale. Examples of why materials may not meet our standards include but are not limited to: outdated titles, duplicate titles, poor condition, or formats unsuitable for our collection.
Ask yourself these questions every time you consider donating used items to the library:
- Are they in good condition?
- Are they musty, dusty, or have an odor?
- Is the information in the non-fiction items current? Is the item outdated (and would the library need an outdated title)?
- Is the fiction title one that I have seen in the library?
- Are there any loose or missing pages?
- Would the library want a book that another library had discarded?
If you need a receipt for tax purposes or other reasons, the library will issue a receipt for the number of items donated, but we cannot assign a monetary value to your donations. No label or recognition of the donor is associated with any donated item. |
